Dodge Recalls Nearly 450K Chargers Over Tire Jack Issues

Screen Shot 2016-02-04 at 10.03.56 AMThe last thing you want to worry about while fixing your flat tire is your car falling off the jack and injuring you or damaging your car. But that’s exactly what can happen for nearly 450,000 Dodge Chargers now being recalled.

Fiat Chrysler (FCA) issued the out-of-the-ordinary recall of 441,578 model year 2011 to 2016 Dodge Chargers in order to supply owners with a device that will stabilize the car while it’s jacked up.

Though the issue that makes the Charger more susceptible to falling off the jack isn’t clear, FCA warns owners that failing to follow “the manual’s instructions with an affected vehicle may cause the vehicle to come off the tire jack.”

To lessen the chance that the vehicle simply falls off the jack, FCA will supply owners with two wheel chocks, which, when placed diagonally from the wheel being changed, help to stabilize the vehicle.

So far, FCA is aware of three minor injuries related to the recalled Chargers.

Notices will be sent to affected vehicle owners, including information on when they can pick up their wheel chocks.
