Entenmann’s Recalls Brownie Bites And Muffins Because Plastic Shards Are Not Tasty Treats

Tiny blueberries and chocolate chips are delicious additions to your baked goods, but tiny shards of plastic definitely are not. If you bought mini muffins or brownie bites made from bulk baker Entenmann’s in the last two weeks, check the packages: it might be part of a recall of items that could contain small plastic pieces.

Here are the products to watch out for:

• Entenmann’s Little Bites Fudge Brownies: 5 pack (9.75 oz) – Best before date October 8, 2016
• Entenmann’s Little Bites Chocolate Chip Muffins: 5 pack (8.25 oz)
  – Best before date October 8, 2016
• Entenmann’s Little Bites Chocolate Chip Muffins: 10 pack (16.5 oz) – Best before date October 8, 2016
• Entenmann’s Little Bites Variety Pack (Chocolate chip muffins, brownie bites, blueberry muffins): 20 pack (2 lb. 2.5 oz) – Best before date September 24, 2016

The company explains in the recall notice that the plastic pieces are due to “a manufacturing failure at a contract manufacturer’s bakery in Illinois.” Entenmann’s is part of the Bimbo Bakeries USA empire that also includes Sara Lee, Thomas’, and Arnold.
